Health Visitors
Well Baby Clinic – a health visitor will be available at Johnson Drive Community Clinic by appointment on 0141 643 3536.
Health Visitors are all trained nurses who have extra training and qualifications in child health. They are a fantastic source of information about child development and health, parenting strategies, breastfeeding, nutrition and community support. They also offer help with social, emotional and environmental issues that affect families.
Child health checks
Child Health check are arranged by the practice.Dr MacWalter provides this service. All children under five should attend. The first check is at 6-8 weeks. Further appointments will be issued automatically.
With Doctor – 6-8 weeks. The practice will contact you with an appointment for your baby’s six week check. If you are not contacted please make contact with your practice.
You will also be offered routine health reviews for your child, with your health visitor, at 6-8 weeks, 8-12 months and 2-2½ years old.
Child Immunisations
Immunisations are given by other Healthcare professionals in accordance with the NHS vaccine schedule.

When to immunise
Different vaccines are given at different ages to protect you and your child. We run immunisation sessions at Johnson Drive Community Clinic by appointment. Immunisations are very important for the health of all children. Children who are behind with their vaccinations should catch up as soon as possible.

Hearing tests for children
Routine hearing tests are offered to newborn babies and children to identify any problems early on in their development.
Although serious hearing problems during childhood are rare, early testing ensures that any problems are picked up and managed as early as possible.
